An association usually has something real to announce and no communication budget. That combination leaves projects that genuinely matter unseen, while those with an agency budget look like the only ones happening. This page explains what we publish from non-governmental organisations in Romania, under which conditions, and what we cannot publish.
Free, through the Public Interest Press Releases programme
A verified NGO — an association, foundation or federation — publishes its public-interest press releases free: up to 8 placements a month, at most 2 publications per release, on 19 publications in Comunicate.eu's own network. Links are nofollow, every release is read by a person, and the answer usually comes within one working day. We ask for nothing in return: no link, no logo, no review.
EU-funded project announcements and commercial content stay paid, and NGOs in the programme get a 30% discount code for paid own-network publications. Who can join, how we verify the organisation and how to apply are on the Public Interest Press Releases page. The rest of this page applies to any NGO press release, free or paid; the prices below are for what the programme does not cover.
Which press releases we accept from NGOs
- The launch or the results of a project, with concrete data
- Awareness and public information campaigns
- Events open to the public
- The organisation's own reports and studies, with the methodology stated
What we cannot publish
Fundraisers without an identifiable contact person and without the organisation's details. Donation appeals pointing to personal accounts. Material in which the organisation is only a front for promoting a company — those are commercial advertorials and are ordered as such, on publishing an advertorial.
What we ask of the organisation
The organisation's full name and tax identification code — checked with ANAF, the Romanian tax authority, when you apply to the programme, or entered in the billing details for paid publications — and a real contact person named in the release. This is not bureaucracy: a press release without a verifiable sender cannot be published by any newsroom, and liability for what appears stays with the publication.
Where an NGO press release should appear
Where the people concerned read. A project in one county travels furthest in that county's local press; a national campaign needs news sites plus publications in the cause's niche, such as health or education. The Comunicate.eu catalogue lists 3,822 active publications across 22 niches, 2,907 of them in Romanian; the 109 in the own network have the fixed price below, and partner publications show their own. The criteria, in order, are in how to choose the sites.
What it costs
Releases outside the programme — EU-funded project announcements, commercial content, or publications other than the 19 — are paid: 35 lei excluding VAT (about €7) per publication on the own network, with a 30% discount code for NGOs in the programme. The first publication, when you create the account, is free. If you run a campaign with several announcements, packages bring the effective price down to 33 lei (10 publications) or 27 lei (50 publications), and credits do not expire — useful for a project that runs over a year. How ordering works is on publish a press release in Romania.
If the project is EU-funded
Then the funder's visibility obligations also apply; they are separate from the advertising label and come on top of it. The conditions are on the page about press releases for EU-funded projects.
The three routes a release takes to reach publications, and what each gives, are compared in where to publish a press release, and the market prices for writing, publication and distribution in how much a press release costs.
Create your account in two minutes, no card. The first publication of every account is free, and a verified NGO can apply to the programme from the Programme page in the app.
Frequently asked questions
Does an NGO pay less for publication?
Yes, if it is verified in the Public Interest Press Releases programme: public-interest releases are published free, up to 8 placements a month on 19 publications, and paid own-network publications get a 30% discount code. Outside the programme the catalogue price applies, 35 lei excluding VAT per own-network publication, and the first publication of every account is free.
Is the first press release free for an NGO?
Yes, as for any new account: one free publication on any of the 109 publications in Comunicate.eu's own network, with no card. The details are on free press release in Romania. Verified NGOs can also publish public-interest releases free every month through the Public Interest Press Releases programme.
Does a company's CSR press release belong on this page?
No. A company's social responsibility project is a company press release, even if the subject is social. It publishes just as well, but as commercial material.
Do I have to send the association's tax code?
Yes, together with the full name. In the programme the tax code is checked with ANAF when you apply; for paid publications it appears on the invoice. Either way, the sender has to be identifiable in the material.
Do you publish donation appeals?
We do, if the organisation's details, the official account and a contact person appear. Without them, no — an anonymous fundraiser cannot be verified by anyone and liability stays with the publication.
